TV’s “Love Is Blind” Season 9’s Madison Maidenberg Partners with Orange County, N.Y., to Promote Accessible Winter Travel

County expands Wheel the World initiative, adding 13 new destinations in 2026

ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. (Feb. 16, 2026) – Orange County, N.Y., recently strengthened its commitment to accessible tourism by adding 13 new destinations to the Wheel the World platform in 2025. Building on that progress, the county plans to welcome 13 additional verified locations in 2026, continuing its work to make travel more inclusive and accessible for all. As part of this initiative, Orange County also proudly partnered with Love Is Blind Season 9 personality and accessibility advocate Madison Maidenberg to spotlight inclusive winter travel experiences and highlight the region as a destination where everyone can explore with confidence.

During her recent visit to the Hudson Valley region, Maidenberg explored accessible attractions, cozy dining spots and seasonal outdoor experiences, sharing how thoughtful accessibility planning allows more travelers to confidently visit Orange County in the winter. Her visit touches on the County’s broader mission: ensuring that outdoor adventures, arts and culture, and craft food and beverage are welcoming to all.

“Initiatives like Wheel the World are imperative and necessary for all types of disability,” Maidenberg said. “As an advocate in the low vision and blind community, programs like this don’t just benefit people who use wheelchairs. They also support people like me, who have difficulty navigating stairs and unfamiliar spaces. It’s incredibly encouraging to see municipalities step up and create a more equal playing field for those of us who are not fully able. I’m so grateful to have partnered with Orange County and to experience firsthand the meaningful work they are doing in their communities.”

Wheel the World is a global accessibility platform that evaluates destinations through trained “mappers” who assess and document accessibility features in detail, providing travelers with clear, reliable information before they visit. By continuing to grow its verified listings in 2026, Orange County will further reinforce its position as an inviting and inclusive destination just one hour from New York City.

The partnership reflects Orange County Tourism & Film’s broader focus on accessible, sustainable growth. Businesses that participate in the Wheel the World initiative pay no fee and receive training for staff on engaging with travelers’ accessibility needs, along with guidance on small improvements that can make meaningful impact. Participating businesses are promoted on the County’s dedicated Accessible Travel page and on I Love NY’s Accessibility page.

“The snowy season offers unique opportunities for visitors to experience Orange County at a relaxed pace, from scenic outdoor spaces and charming downtowns to cultural attractions and restaurants serving farm-fresh meals,” said Amanda Dana, director of Orange County Tourism & Film. “Our partnership with Wheel the World helps to ensure that everyone can enjoy those experiences with ease and comfort.”

By partnering with Wheel the World, Orange County Tourism & Film joins the growing movement toward greater accessibility in travel and tourism. The initiative aligns with a recommendation by UN Tourism, an agency of the United Nations, encouraging accessibility as a central component of sustainable tourism. According to the World Health Organization, about 16% of the world’s population (1.3 billion people) experience significant disabilities, underscoring the importance of inclusive destination planning.
