ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. (March 13, 2026) — Spring in Orange County, N.Y. means outdoor art, theme park thrills, classic drive-in movies, colorful garden blooms and festive seasonal celebrations filling the calendar with family fun just 50 miles from New York City.
From March through May, Orange County’s favorite destinations return for the season. Storm King Art Center welcomes visitors back to its 500-acre open-air museum, LEGOLAND® New York Resort’s rides and attractions spring to life, and the Orange County Arboretum begins to burst with colorful blooms.
At the same time, Orange County’s two drive-in theaters open their gates to welcome movie lovers eager to experience new releases in time-honored settings on the big screen.
Spring celebrations continue across Orange County with seasonal favorites and outdoor events. New York Maple Weekends invite visitors to local sugarhouses, colorful eggs drop from a helicopter, and adults can even join their own egg hunt. Farmers markets reopen and spring festivals return, bringing communities outside to celebrate the season.

Opens April 1
Why go: The 500 acres of hills, meadows and forests are home to numerous large-scale sculpture and site-specific artworks. On April 1, start off the center’s season with a moonlit walk.

Maple Sugar Tours @ Hudson Highlands Nature Center (3/14)

Why go: Discover the sweet science and history behind local syrup making in a guided outdoor tour. Learn how to identify and tap sugar maple trees and explore sugaring methods used by Native Americans, early settlers and modern-day producers. Why go: In Operation: Bunny Drop, a real helicopter flies over the park and releases a cascade of colorful Easter eggs. When the egg hunt is on, look for golden eggs with special prizes. Enjoy live music, games, unicorn rides, face painting, food and craft vendors and an appearance by the Easter Bunny.
