Plenty to do within walking distance here. Many places with great views.
Jun 16, 2026 · Google ReviewService here was five star start to finish. The bar staff last night handled a huge crowd just the two of them with ease. The food was really good. I had the mozzarella sandwich for lunch which I highly recommend and a burger with fries for dinner. All cooked perfectly. Note: burger comes with just cheese to request lettuce and tomato for instance. Drinks were well made by bartender. Front desk clerks were always friendly and helpful. We were also able to pay for extra early check in which was nice for us coming off the AT earlier than expected yesterday. Beds were comfortable and room was clean. We stayed up on the hill not at the main lodge or the stone cottages. This had some lodge feel but with more hotel vibes. I do wish with sore legs they had a shuttle up to the hotel property but most people probably drive in. The grounds were bustling with people but it never felt overcrowded. *edit two years later: back again but this time brought my two boys ages 15 and 11. We had a great time staying in the overlook. We walked to the zoo which was free and fun. Breakfast at the Hikers Cafe was affordable and solid. The staff we encountered were friendly just like the last time I stayed. The weather Saturday was rainy but we sat in the shared lodge space next to the fire built for us. We played board games and door dashed food for dinner. Our room was clean, beds were comfy, and plenty of towels were provided. I ordered the cookies/brownies and they were delicious. My boys loved that they were waiting for us in the room. Wish the weather cooperated a bit more but we still had a great time. For the price this place can’t be beat. Oh, I got a tshirt for 18 bucks at the gift shop. Amazing deal. Beautiful location and fun to walk around. We went down to the dock on the Hudson river and talked to locals fishing off the pier. Interesting characters and a gorgeous view of the river area. Some grass areas down there that would be good picnic spots.
