In the hostile state of New York sits one of the coolest vintage motels on route 17, nestled in the Ramapo Mountains, you'd think this simple but well appointed-motel was pre-Woodstock 1969. I love the fact that they have a real office and actual keys. Comfortable beds and easy access to all things just above the City and a stone throw away from West Point and the Bear Mountain Bridge which grants access to Westchester, the Tappen Zee Bridge is further down the Hudson but more expensive and certainly less scenic. Excellent location in Tuxedo this is the Tuxedo Motel.

This is a hiker friendly motel located right near the lovely Harriman State Park. I decided to stay here one night to then wake up early to hit the trails in the morning. It was cheap, clean, and safe. The man who worked there was friendly. It was just what I needed. In the morning, I drove to a local store for a quick breakfast and then started my hike. I'd highly recommend this place.

Great affordable place to stay.This is very convenient place to stay for hikers as well.Located 2 miles off the Elk pen parking lot off the Appalachian trail.Also there is an awesome gas station with a deli 0.1 away from this motel.Rooms are cozy, showers are warm, and the owner/manager is very nice and helpful and is hiker friendly he will also wash laundry for hikers.And there is a gazebo ,in the back there is a patio with picnic tables and a grill.There is also menus of local restaurants which you can get food delivered to your room!Many thanks!!

I am currently hiking the Appalachian Trail and had my resupply sent to the PO right across the street. Room rate is very reasonable. The room is clean and well stocked and a little retro. The owner did my laundry for me. There's a convenience store nearby for drinks and snacks. Pizza delivery and Chinese food delivery is available. It was a bit of a hike from the trail but its quiet and secure. It's a good spot to stop.

The owner is very hiker friendly! We were section hiking the AT and needed to stop somewhere for the night. Called the day of and he had a room available for us. Had to catch an Uber to the motel as it is a few miles from the trail. Make sure to get dropped off at the top of the driveway where you’ll see the front office, otherwise you’ll have to walk a ways uphill. Room was fairly priced, clean, and stocked with everything we needed (showers were HOT). Owner took care of our laundry for us and showed us the beautiful gazebo and nice area of picnic tables, Adirondack chairs, and a grill. We were very thankful to stay here for a night after a brutal section on the AT. We ended up eating our own food but it looks like you can have pizza and Chinese food delivered.
