A gem in Middletown! We heard about this restaurant and wanted to check it out for ourselves. We booked a dinner reservation and when we arrived we were greeted and quickly taken to our table. The server was friendly and pointed out the different options on the menu and we ordered appetizers which included the O & R cornbread with peach butter and Esquites corn with cotija and cilantro was a perfect starters to share. The main course I enjoyed the half Peruvian chicken “Aji Panca” that was charred and smoky, served over rice with a bright herb sauce and crispy yuca awesome combo of flavors and textures. My wife had the “Grilled Skirt Steak” that was cooked perfectly to medium-rare, topped with chimichurri, and came with a charred corn and pepper succotash that was almost better than the steak itself. After the meal we had a visit from Chef Luis (which was a nice surprise) to ask us how we enjoyed the meal. Overall thoughts, portions are generous, flavors are well-balanced, and you can tell the kitchen puts real thought into every plate. Highly recommend!

I can’t say enough good things about this place. We went there for our anniversary and from the beginning we really appreciated our server Lexi. She was kind and attentive and always checked up on us. We’d go back just for her service alone. But the food and drinks were awesome too. The Korean Fried Broccoli was awesome. Basically tempura broccoli with a nice sauce. Loved it. The pappardelle was recommended to me by Lexi and I am happy I listened. It was very yummy. We also got the duck and found it to be flavorful and yummy. The drinks were phenomenal. We will definitely go back.

Beautiful modern atmosphere with delicious American cuisine 😋 We had a large party of 14 - the service was extremely organized and the servers were friendly and accommodating. The food was a little on the heavy side but they had some lighter options like the roasted beet salad which was FANTASTIC. Highly recommended!

This was my second event at Oak & Reed, and once again, everything was absolutely wonderful. This time I hosted a Kentucky Derby themed brunch with my “Chicas del Cafecito,” and the experience was amazing from beginning to end. The food, the service, the atmosphere, everything was beautiful and exceeded expectations. Working with Laura has been such a pleasure. She is always so kind, professional, accommodating, and attentive to every detail. She truly helps make the entire planning process smooth and enjoyable. I absolutely love hosting events here and look forward to many more in the future. Highly recommend!

This was our first visit here and I was pleasantly surprised. You dont normally get decent eateries in Middletown NY other than the typical chain and/or fast food establishments. Oak & Reed is a trendy place and attracts that type of crowd from what I could see. A modern place with a nice menu to compliment it. The bread is baked locally, across the court yard in their sister business. It's really good bread. As a matter of fact, I dont mind the limited amount they provide, otherwise I would just eat that. I was told I could purchase a loaf but the sister business was closed by the time we finished dinner. But at least I know where I could get some really good bread. Tonights meals were an O&R 10oz burger and a Mediterranean Grain Bowl with grilled chicken added. The burger was cooked perfectly and had excellent flavor. The side of so-called Thrice Cooked Chips are more of a French fry than a typical in house fried chips. Good, but not chips(consider renaming those). The Mediterranean Grain Bowl with added grilled chicken (or salmon if you wish) was really good, especially if you like Mediterranean style food. This is a combination or Einkorn, Quinoa, Cucumber, Tomatoes, Sweety Drop Peppers, Chicken Peas and Feta cheese topped with a very good Lemon-Tahini Vinaigrette dressing. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the combination is brilliant! Excellent dish! I would go back just for that alone. If you are in the area, check out Oak & Reed.
