Mount Peter, New York’s Family Mountain, has been a premier destination for wintertime fun in New York for more than 86 years! Less than an hour from Manhattan, but a world away from the hustle and bustle. Their picturesque location in the Warwick Valley has been the backdrop of fond memories for generations of families and friends. Mount Peter offers skiing and snowboarding on 14 trails, each equipped with state-of-the-art snowmaking and kept expertly groomed at all times. Regardless of your experience or skill level, there are multiple slopes for everyone, from beginner hills to challenging black diamond slopes. You’re back up for another run in no time, thanks to two double chair lifts and a quad chair lift. Mount Peter also has a 600-foot tubing run that’s an awesome and exhilarating alternative to skiing and snowboarding. There’s also Mount Peter’s Little Tikes play area, a winter wonderland complete with a kid-size tubing hill and snow play area for our smallest visitors. Mount Peter has two learning areas, both with carpet lifts. Mount Peter is famous for their Free Beginner Lessons on weekends and holidays. Su Yean HeoI had a great experience at Mt. Peter Ski Area! It's a perfect little ski resort if you don't want to drive too far from New York. There were definitely more skiers than snowboarders, but it still felt very welcoming for everyone. I think this is one of the best places for beginners. It wasn't overly crowded, so I never felt rushed while learning, and that made the experience much more enjoyable. The only downside is that it's a pretty small mountain. The runs are so short that you can make it to the bottom in under a minute! 😄 That said, when I was first learning to snowboard, I actually loved that. It gave me plenty of opportunities to practice without feeling overwhelmed. I'd definitely recommend Mt. Peter to anyone who's just getting started or wants a relaxed day on the slopes.

Liliana EljadueI recently visited Mount Peter Ski Area as a complete beginner and took private lessons, and overall I had a really positive experience. As someone brand new to skiing, I appreciated how small and unintimidating the mountain felt. It’s not a huge resort, which actually made it less overwhelming and perfect for learning. The instructor were patient, clear, and encouraging during my private lesson, and I felt much more confident by the end of the day. The lift lines were manageable, and I liked that I could get multiple runs in without waiting too long. The atmosphere felt friendly and local rather than crowded or chaotic. For someone just starting out, that made a big difference. That said, the mountain is definitely small. I can see how more advanced skiers might outgrow it quickly since there aren’t many trails or challenging runs. It’s also more of a local ski hill than a full resort experience, so don’t expect luxury amenities. Overall, I’d recommend Mount Peter for beginners, families, or anyone looking to learn in a low pressure environment. If you’re brand new like I was, it’s a great place to build confidence before moving on to larger mountains.

J YablonskiI visited Mount Peter twice and it was a very nice mountain. The trails were very nice and a nice lodge the food was very good. Employees are nice the parking lot is muddy and some parts bumpy and the bathroom had no water for the sinks twice. Other than that, it's a very nice mountain and I recommend it.

Steve MarroneWeeeeeeeeeeee….. We went tubing this past Sunday and we had sooooo much fun. Everything was amazing and perfect in every way. They really have it down to a science so that everyone has the maximum chance for fun and excitement. It was so well organized and clean and neat. The staff was pleasant plentiful and extremely helpful. The food court was simply delicious, surprisingly delicious. The coco was the best I’ve ever had. The waffles and chocolate is to die for. We’re coming back!!
