We've been long time customers of Chapala's. Ignacio, Minerva and family run a great establishment. Food is always fresh, not frozen, IMO they have the best skirt steak around. So many fresh dishes to try, above and beyond typical burritos and enchiladas, but those are delicious too. Here are some pictures from a week ago. I had their Shrimp in garlic butter soft tacos, and I forgot to mention their deserts, which are top notch too! Tres Leche, Churro's and their Chocolate Mousse cake. Devine!

Apr 17, 2026 · Google ReviewChapala Grill is in New Windsor out toward Vails Gate and it’s such a staple when we’re craving Mexican food. This restaurant isn’t your fast food type of Mexican. The details in the colorful carvings on the chairs and tables always make me so happy. The staff and service are so helpful, attentive, professional. The drinks, especially margaritas and sangria are delicious. Any food menu item we’ve ever had has been amazing! The tres leches cake dessert
Oct 18, 2025 · Google ReviewIf you walked into Chapala Grill expecting just another casual Mexican spot, you’d be caught off guard the second you step inside. The ambiance hits you first it’s warm, lively, and effortlessly inviting. There’s this perfect balance between vibrant energy and comfort. Soft lighting casts a golden glow across the room, bouncing off colorful décor that feels authentic without being overdone. You hear a blend of upbeat Latin music in the background, just enough to set the tone without overpowering conversation. The whole place feels alive but relaxed, like you can sit back, take your time, and really enjoy the experience. Then the food starts coming out and that’s where things really level up. The carne asada is the star of the show, no question. From the moment it hits the table, you can smell that rich, smoky char—perfectly grilled with just the right amount of sear on the outside. You cut into it and it’s unbelievably tender, cooked exactly right so it stays juicy all the way through. Every bite is packed with flavordeep, savory, slightly citrusy from the marinade, with that subtle hint of spice that lingers just enough. It’s not dry, not chewy just straight melt-in-your-mouth quality. You can tell this isn’t rushed cooking; it’s done with intention. Before you even get there though, the chips and guacamole set the tone. The chips come out warm and crisp, not greasy, with that fresh-made crunch that makes it impossible to stop reaching for “just one more.” Then the guacamole clearly made fresh, not sitting around. It’s bright, vibrant green, with chunks of perfectly ripe avocado, balanced with lime, cilantro, and just the right touch of salt. It tastes clean, fresh, and real like it was made minutes before it hit your table. Then come the empanadas, and honestly, they hold their own. The outer shell is golden and flaky with a light crisp that gives way to a soft, warm interior. Inside, the filling is rich and well-seasoned, juicy without being heavy. Each bite has that perfect contrast crunch on the outside, savory goodness inside. They’re the kind of appetizer you end up talking about even after the meal’s over. And just when you think it can’t get better, dessert comes through and completely seals the deal. The tres leches cake is next level. The Moistosity level is insane. like, perfectly soaked without falling apart. You can taste all three milks blending into this smooth, sweet richness that doesn’t feel overly heavy. It’s soft, airy, and almost melts as soon as it hits your mouth. Sweet, but balanced enough that you actually want another bite instead of feeling overwhelmed. The flan is just as impressive. Silky smooth with that flawless jiggle, it’s creamy and delicate with a deep caramel flavor that adds just the right amount of sweetness and slight bitterness. It’s rich without being too dense, and the texture is spot on no bubbles, no graininess, just pure, clean custard perfection. Overall, Chapala Grill doesn’t just serve food it delivers an experience. From the welcoming atmosphere to the attention to detail in every dish, everything feels intentional and well-executed. It’s the kind of place where every course hits, and you leave already thinking about the next time you’re coming back.
Apr 1, 2026 · Google ReviewLove Chapala Grill! My wife and I crave the “Soup Azteca,” especially in the colder months. My go-to is the carnitas tacos, but everything I’ve had has been great. Great margaritas and light/dark Modelo on tap!
